“Why does the third of the three brothers, who shares his food with the old woman in the wood, go on to become king of the country? Why does James Bond manage to disarm the nuclear bomb a few seconds before it goes off rather than, as it were, a few seconds afterwards? Because a universe where that did not happen would be a dark and hostile place. Let there be goblin hordes, let there be terrible environmental threats, let there be giant mutated slugs if you really must, but let there also be hope. It may be a grim, thin hope, an Arthurian sword at sunset, but let us know that we do not live in vain.”
— Terry Pratchett, “Let There Be Dragons” (A Slip of the Keyboard)

headcanon that unlike the american red cross, vampires are grateful to receive blood donated by members of the lgbtqa+ community. In fact, due to their interest in human blood and bloodborne pathogens, the vampire community was among the first to fund medical research to study and search for a cure for HIV.

No, but seriously, the people (and undead) who are actually interested in health and blood sciences would be the first to shove the outdated and ignorant anti-gay rhetoric out the window. People in the blood bank industry have been screaming for it for years.
I get why it happened. no one knew what it was and when knowledge is absent and all that’s left is statistics you gotta base your decisions off statistics.
But the fact that we’ve had Knowledge for this long and have let this policy persist for so long is disgusting and HARMFUL and WASTEFUL and I work in a hospital and have a lot of feelings about blood products and their handling. Just….. AAAUGH.
i’m so glad this post reached a vampire working in the blood industry
“Her smile was radiant as Tatooine’s primary as she took his flesh hand and pressed it to the soft fullness of her belly. “He keeps kicking.”
“He?” Anakin asked mildly. “I thought you’d ordered your medical droid not to spoil the surprise.”
“Oh, I didn’t get it from Emdee. It’s my…” Her mouth went softly sly. “…motherly intuition.”
His felt a sudden pulse against his palm and laughed. “Motherly intuition, huh? With a kick that hard? Definitely a girl.””
a young adult novel series where a girl hides her gender to become a knight but in the end it turns out theyre all women pretending to be men so the rest of the books are just abt lesbianism and swords
