People that hate Merrill but ADORE Anders really make me mad.

Because Merrill was THE ONLY PERSON (aside from Hawke) to actively show Anders mercy after he blew up the chantry

The boy has done nothing but criticize and berate the poor girl and tell her how she could be a menace with her blood magic and despite that, she defends him and believes he should have another chance to set things right.

I’ll be honest, Merrill’s act of mercy is what made me not kill Anders in my first playthrough. She is a better person than anyone else in the whole damn game.
