Do the Dalish really play chess?  I’ve headcanoned that Phaedra is only passingly familiar with the game, and tries to bluff her way through it.

Unfortunately for Cullen, this means he has to play the most aggressively awful match ever in order to let her win (Phaedra opts to “play fair”, since there is no “play utterly abysmally” dialogue option).
